Synapse Homepage News

You don’t need to navigate into the News tab to run quick, targeted news queries—Synapse’s global search bar on the homepage lets you find News items alongside Drugs, Trials, Patents, and more. Here’s how to get the most out of it. 

Explore Pre-Built Tabs

At the top of Hot Topics, you’ll find key filters to focus your feed:

• Latest News: Industry announcements, regulatory policy updates, and general R&D headlines.

• Clinical Trial: Trial initiations, recruitment statuses, and key milestone announcements.

• Clinical Result: Phase readouts, efficacy and safety data, and peer-review summaries.

• Patent: Patent grants, application filings, and legal developments.

• Literature: High-impact journal publications and meta-analyses.

• Approved Drug: New approvals and label updates.

Click any tab to instantly refine the feed by category.

Adjust the Date Range

Use the date picker to set a custom window for news items (e.g., last week, last month).

1. Click the date fields at the top right.

2. Select a start and end date.

Switch to Your Topics

The Your Topics tab surfaces news based on your personal preferences:

1. Click Your Topics next to Hot Topics.

2. If you see “No update for entities in preference and email alerts,” you haven’t set any preferences yet.

Set Your News Preferences

1. Click Go to preference (or the user avatar → Settings → Preference).

2. In Personal Information, verify your Job Role and Email.

3. Under Preference Settings, choose up to 5 of each:

   • Drugs

   • Diseases

   • Targets

   • Organizations

4. Click Submit to save.

Read & Explore Articles

Once preferences are set, return to Your Topics for a bespoke feed.

On the right sidebar you’ll find:

• Tags (e.g., Clinical Result, Policy)

• Related Organizations, Indications, Targets, Drugs

• Related News links for deeper context

Performing a news search

To run a focused news search right from the Synapse homepage, simply click the scope dropdown (which defaults to “All”), select “News,” and then enter your drug, target, organization, or keyword into the search box. Press Enter (or click the magnifying-glass icon), and Synapse will return only news items—policy updates, trial announcements, literature highlights, and more—filtered to your terms. This lets you quickly surface the latest headlines without leaving your current page.
