Filtering My Search Results

Once you have performed your search, you will reach the search results page, where you can then click into each of the data types to see the results for them in more detail. Once you are in the detail page, you can refine or exclude some of your results using the filters on the left-hand side of the page by ticking the boxes and then clicking on the option of "Refine" or "Exclude".

The filter options for each data type varies between each of them and the complete list for them are as follows: 

Company

• Company Name - Filter for companies by a given name.
• Technical Output -  Filters for companies using a combination of Technical Efficacy and Technology Topic. Can be used to categorize based on technical area of patents (Currently only supports CN patents).
• Tech Topic - Filter companies by their topic areas.
• Startups - Filter for companies based on whether they are a start up. We use 4 criteria to determine startups.
• Results Range - Filter to whether you want to see all types of organisation or just companies.
• Company Type - Filter for companies by their type.
• Industries - Filter companies by the NAICS industries that they operate within.
• Location - Filter for companies headquartered in a specific location.
• Founded Year - Filter for companies by the number of years ago that they were founded.
• Number of Employees - Filter for companies by the number of employees they currently have.
• Has Been Acquired - Filter for companies based on whether they have been acquired.

Patent

• Std. Current Assignee - Filter patents by their current assignee where these assignee names have been standardized so name variations of a single entity are all considered to be the same. 
• Patent Type - Filter patents by their type.
• Assignee Type - Filter patents by the type of entity that they are assigned to.
• Startup - Filter patents by if the assignee for them is a startup.
• Legal Event - Filter patents by the legal events that have occurred for them.
• Authority - Filter patents by the authority that they were filed in.
• Simple Legal Status - Filter patents by their current legal status.
• Granted Date - Filter patents by when they were granted.
• Application Date - Filter patents by when they were filed for.
• Publication Date - Filter patents by when they were published.
• IPC Code - Filter patents by the IPC codes that are attached to them.
• SEP - Filter patents by if they are a Standard Essential Patent.

Literature

• Institution - Filter scientific publications by the academic institution which published them.
• Publication Date - Filter scientific publications by the date which they were published.
• Doc Type - Filter scientific publications by the type of document which they are.
• Journals - Filter scientific publications by the journals that they can be found in.
• Tech Topic - Filter scientific publications by their topic areas.
• Citation Count - Filter scientific publications by the number of citations they have got.
• Authors - Filter scientific publications by their authors.
• Location - Filter scientific publications by the jurisdiction that they were published in.
• Text Availability - Filter scientific publications depending whether or not a PDF is available for them.

News

• Mentioned company - Filter news items by the organizations that are referred to in them.
• Publish Time - Filter news items by how long ago they were published.
• News Type - Filter news items by their type.
• Tech Topic - Filter news items by their topic areas.
• News Source - Filter news items by the website that they were sourced from.
• Location - Filter news items by their location.

Market Report

• Mentioned company - Filter for market reports by the organizations that are mentioned within them.
• Publication Time - Filter for market reports by the date which they were published.
• Category - Filter for market reports by their categories.
• Market Sector - Filter for market reports by the sector they correspond to.
• Publisher - Filter for market reports by their publishers.
• Location - Filter for market reports by the location where they were published.

VC Investment

• Investor (Organization) - Filter VC investments by the organization that performed the investment.
• Announced Date - Filter VC investments by how long ago they were announced.
• Amount - Filter VC investments by the amount invested.
• Tech Topic - Filter VC investments by their topic areas.
• Industry - Filter VC investments by the industry that they relate to.
• Series - Filter VC investments by the funding series that they occurred in for the invested company.
• Funded Company - Filter VC investments by the company that received the funding.
• Funded Company Size - Filter VC investments by the size of the company that received the funding.
• Funded Company Location - Filter VC investments by the location of the company that received the funding.
• Investment Type - Filter VC investments by their type.
• Investor (Individual) - Filter VC investments by the individual that performed the investment.

Merger & Acquisition

• Purchaser - Filter M&A's by the company that made the acquisition.
• Announced Date - Filter M&A's by the date that they were announced.
• Tech Topic - Filter M&A's by their topic areas.
• Transaction Value - Filter M&A's by the value of the transaction that took place.
• Deal Purpose - Filter M&A's by the reasoning behind the acquisition.
• Status - Filter M&A's by the current status of the acquisition.
• Purchaser Industry - Filter M&A's by the industry of the acquiring company.
• Purchaser Location - Filter M&A's by the location of the acquiring company.
• Primary Deal Type - Filter M&A's by the type of deal that took place.
• Other Deal Types - Filter M&A's by more specific deal types.
• Target Ownership - Filter M&A's by the percentage of ownership that the acquired company has  provided the acquirer.
• Target - Filter M&A's by the company that was acquired.
• Target Industry - Filter M&A's by the industry of the acquired company.
• Target Location - Filter M&A's by the location of the acquired company.  
• Payment Type - Filter M&A's by the type of payment that was agreed between the two organizations.
• Cross Industry - Filter M&A's by whether or not they are cross industry.
• Cross Country/Location - Filter M&A's by whether or not they are cross country/location.

Expert

• Tech Topic - Filter experts by their topic areas.
• Institution - Filter experts by the academic institution that they are associated with.
• Citations - Filter experts by the number of citations that their publications have had. 
• Published Journals - Filter experts by the journals that their papers have been published in.
• Publications - Filter experts by the number of publications that they have accredited to them.

Research Funding

• Open Date - Filter research funding by the number of years ago that they became public knowledge.
• Amount - Filter research funding by the amount of funding that the awardee received.
• Award To - Filter research funding by the organization that received the funding.
• Award By - Filter research funding by the organization that the funding was awarded by.
• Location - Filter research funding by their location.

Grant

• Published Date - Filter grants by the number of years ago that they became public knowledge.
• Amount - Filter grants by the amount of funding that the awardee has received.
• Award To - Filter grants by the organization that received the grant.
• Award By - Filter grants by the organization that the grant was awarded by.
• Location - Filter grants by their location.
